Organic is always best, but let's face it, it doesn't always fit in every budget all the time. There are a few fruits and veggies that you don't have to worry about having to buy organic to avoid pesticide residue.
In alphabetical order.

Asparagus

Avocado

Broccoli

Cabbage

Carrots

Cauliflower

Eggplant

Grapefruit (citrus in general)

Kiwi

Mangoes

Melons

Mushrooms

Onions

Papaya

Pineapple

Sweet Corn

Sweet Peas

Sweet Potatoes
I just want to reiterate these are low in pesticides. There are other reasons to buy organic, but if your main concern is pesticide residue, no need to buy the above fruits and veggies organic. Even organic fruits and veggies have some pesticide residue.
To wash my fruits and veggies well, I give them a soak in a baking soda and water solution, 1:100 ratio. I soak for about 10 - 15 minutes, then I rinse really well. I pat the fruits and veggies dry then let them sit out on a towel until completely dry before storing.
I hope you found this post helpful.
