Macon Vegans | Vegan Outreach and Support | April 16 - 30, 2019

Meat Free Mikee and Macon Vegans were at it again. This time at the Earth Day Festival. It was a lot of fun, but most importantly we were able to engage in some really great outreach with members of our community, of all ages! Pictured above are Janie Hokanson and Charlotte Dungan who came out to help educate the community on the benefits of veganism to the environment. I am proud to say that we are so fortunate to have had them both there. And we want to give Ms. Charlotte Dungan props for earning a Goldwater Scholarship. We are so lucky and proud to have the privilege of working with a Goldwater Scholar from Mercer!!

We also had some finger-painting, chalk drawing, and bubbles for our younger visitors. I mention this because the finger paints and bubble solution were homemade, vegan, and environmentally friendly. Remember the "veganness" and "environmental friendliness" depends on the quality of the ingredients you choose to use.

Not only were Charlotte and Janie at our event, but we also had Meat Free Mikee, Lacey Ghetter of Soulful Love Living, and, not pictured, "Soul"utions Community Gardeners. We will be sponsoring a potted garden gardening workshop with them next month. Make sure to subscribe to our blog, like our FB page, join our FB group, or follow us on IG so you don't miss the invite or any of our future events!

As if the three events we collaborated on earlier in the month were not enough, we collaborated on another event, which was our monthly Meetup! This month's Meetup was a Potluck at the Society Garden. It was a great social event where we got to meet some new AV: Macon and Macon Vegans members!! One couple had just moved to Macon the day before our potluck, yet they still found the time to bring a delicious dish and join our potluck!

Dean Brown was performing at the Society Garden that day with his band, keeping everyone well entertained! We thank them for their support.

We've got all sorts of exciting things planned for next month, starting with an AV: Macon Cube of Truth on First Friday in Downtown Macon. Then we'll be headed down to St. Augustine, Florida for a couple of vegan activism events. Follow Meat Free Mikee on IG and YouTube or Mikee Yago on FB, or join AV: Macon on FB to learn more about these upcoming events and possibly join us. We'll also have our monthly meetup, so remember to check Macon Vegans out on FB and IG for all the information for this and other upcoming events!
