Aldi

Aldi comes through again with their great sales on grapes and pineapples!! My family loves loves a pineapple ginger drink I make. My boys keep telling me I need to put the recipe on the Macon Vegans blog. I keep telling them there's nothing to put! All you need to do is roughly chop your pineapple and throw it in your high speed blender with some ginger (to taste). That's it! It's delicious and nutritious!

They've got avocados at 39¢ again, but if you scroll down, you'll find another grocery store that beats Aldi with their sale on avocados this week!! No one beats Aldi's deal on mushrooms this week! How about mushroom tacos with fresh guacamole for dinner one night this week?
Dollar General
Through 03/30

I love sweet potatoes...especially raw! You can make a raw, creamy, cashew alfredo sauce to go on top and it's one of the most decadent, comfort dishes you've had! All you need are some pre-soaked raw cashews, garlic, fresh herbs, distilled water, and green onions. Blend the cashews, garlic and water in your high speed blender. Finely chop the fresh herbs and green onions and add to your creamy sauce. Pour over your sweet potato noodles and you have a delicious, raw, comfort food. Super easy too!

So you didn't have to go too far down the list to find out where this week's best sale on avocados is. 3 for $1!! The possibilities are endless!

Food Depot

Great sale on yellow squash this week at Food Depot. If you load up on avocados from Dollar General Market, you can substitute yellow squash for zucchini squash in Macon Vegans' Raw Zucchini and Carrot Noodles with Creamy Avocado Cilantro Sauce recipe.
Fresh Market

Pretty good sale on organic berries this week. The Sumo Mandarins look delicious too. And Fresh Market always comes through with their sales on bulk nuts!

Kroger

Kroger has some very good sales this week!

Starting with the front page of their weekly ad, you can't beat 10 lbs of potatoes for only $2.49! From a mash to a salad, baked (try Macon Vegans' Easy Baked Potatoes), roasted, sautéed and any and every thing in between. Remember, potatoes are very good for you. What can be bad for you is the way they are cooked (deep fried).

No other grocery store beats their sale on asparagus this week. I absolutely LOVE grilled asparagus served with lemon and a sprinkle of sea salt!! A big favorite in my house.

Piggly Wiggly

Piggly Wiggly has a great sale on Green Beans and Summer Squash this week. I like to sauté green beans in vegetable broth with sweet onions and garlic and a pinch of sea salt. Technically I believe I am steaming not sautéing the veggies. Whatever you want to call it, do it until they reach desired tenderness and serve.

Publix

Publix often has great BOGO deals. This is one of those weeks! Definitely getting some BOGO fresh Pineapple chunks!!

My kids love my coconut jasmine rice. For every cup of jasmine rice, you use one can of full fat coconut milk and 1/4 cup of water and 1 Tbsp of coconut sugar. Bring all the ingredients to a boil, cover and lower temperature to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes. Take off of the heat and let sit for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and let sit for 5 more minutes. Now you can eat it!

Save a Lot

The truth is that pretty much all the grocery stores have good sales for plant based eaters this week! Save a Lot's sale on mandarin oranges and blackberries this week is the best around Macon. Have you ever candied an orange? How about make your own blackberry jam? Worth a try with the sales they're having this week!

Shopper's Value Foods

Definitely worth a trip to this store this week to pick up some mangoes and pineapples.

While you're there, pick up some fancy eggplant. There are so many possibilities like a curry, or a bake. How about making vegan eggplant lasagna using eggplant instead of noodles? Just a thought.
